We can repair any camera or lens ever made. Whether or not it makes economic sense for us to repair your camera or lens is another matter entirely. :)
That being said, you can bring your camera or lens in for an estimate anytime - you do not need an appointment.
We only give repair estimates after seeing the camera or lens in person, as what exactly is wrong with your equipment may be different from what you believe the problem to be. We can also spot things wrong (or right) about your camera that you may not be able to spot.
Estimates can take anywhere from 24 hours to even a few weeks, depending on the availability of parts (which we need the cost of parts to give you an estimate as accurately as we can). We try to get an estimate as soon as we possibly can!
Keep in mind that an estimate is just that: an estimate. It is not necessarily the exact end cost. We have plenty of experience with repairs (we have seen thousands of cameras and lenses), so in the overwhelming majority of cases (90%+) it ends up costing exactly what we estimate, but occasionally it can be a bit more or a bit less. We try to be as accurate as we can, but sometimes when repairing a camera or lens more (or less) damage can be found as we proceed with the repair. If we need to adjust the cost, we will give you exact details of why a repair changes in price.
Repair estimates cost $25, which may be applied to the cost of the repair if you choose to go forward with it. We require at least 50% payment for the estimate up front - though you are welcome to pay for the total repair up front. Repairs are not put in line to be done until the minimum amount up front is paid.
We typically have an express service available for an additional $100 charge that will have your camera or lens repaired within two weeks. This is not necessarily available for all equipment, but if it is we will present this option to you. This option, essentially, bumps you to the front of the line for repairs. Typical repair times really do vary depending on the camera or lens, and the type of repair to be done. Some repairs are done within two weeks with no additional fee!
Repairs have a warranty of 90 days, for the specific repair performed.
One Final Note: believe it or not, some people get upset with us regarding repairs and the costs associated with it. We understand why people are upset, and understand we are delivering news no one wants to hear. Don't give us a hard time about it - "it is what it is" when it comes to repairs. We try to accomplish them as fast as possible and at as reasonable a price as we can. It is not you versus us: we are together in the situation. We don't like seeing people upset or with their stuff broken.
